How to Help
There are a number of ways you can help, including:
Donate | Become a Friend | Sponsor an Animal | Corporate Sponsorship | Volunteer | Leave a gift | Organise Events
Make a donation
If you would like to make a donation to help us continue our work, you can donate online now using the WorldPay system. If you would prefer to send a donation by post or in person, please see our contact page for ways to get in touch - but please don't send cash through the post.
We greatly appreciate all funds received.
Become a Friend
The Animal Sanctuary at Newgate, Wilmslow offers a safe haven for unwanted animals. With your help this dedicated facility can stay open and remain something our local area can be proud of.
The annual maintenance costs threaten to overwhelm the resources of the Sanctuary and a small, regular contribution would make a huge difference. We urgently need your help to keep the future of the animals secure.
By becoming a friend you will be helping to keep this important, local facility running. Friends also receive up-to-date newsletters showing the work being done at the sanctuary. Please download our information and application leaflet for more details.
Sponsor an Animal
We have now set up a scheme so that supporters can sponsor their favourite permanent resident at the sanctuary. Sponsorship lasts for a year and you will be sent a welcome pack and receive news about your chosen animal. It would make an ideal present for an animal lover!
Download and print out the form or contact the Sanctuary either by phone (01625 520802) or email us and we will give you all the details.
Corporate Sponsorship
Company participation is vital to our future. Your contribution will go directly to helping the Society strengthen its resources in the care of these animals and will help us to encourage the teaching of humane principles to children and others in the wider society.
We intend to lift the profile of the Sanctuary in the public eye, and as a Corporate Member we will be pleased to give your company exposure on our publicity materials. In addition, you are welcome to encourage your staff to participate in team building days and other events at the sanctuary.
You are invited to participate by joining us as a Corporate Member. Please contact us for more information. With your help this dedicated facility can stay open.

Become a Volunteer
Do you love animals, have time to spare and would like to make a difference in your community? Then why not become a volunteer at the Animal Sanctuary.
We rely on the dedication and support of our volunteers to provide a service for those animals most in need in the Wilmslow area.
If you feel you could help, please contact the Animal Sanctuary for further details. Alternatively, you can download, print and complete a Volunteer Application form and return it to the Animal Sanctuary (Humane Education Society, Newgate, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5LN).
Some of the ways you could help:
Administration
Based at the Animal Sanctuary, there are a variety of administrative tasks which can be undertaken and may include working on reception, dealing with visitors to the animal centre and answering the phone.
Maintenance/Gardening
With a large Animal Sanctuary to maintain we need volunteers to help, under direction, with jobs large and small on the site.
Home visiting
The role of the home visitor is to visit the homes of potential animal adoptors to ensure their suitability. If you have experience as a pet owner and have your own transport you may be able to help. Let us know which areas you can travel to and the amount of spare time you may have. Training will be given.
Practical animal care
Many volunteers enjoy working alongside the staff completing the day to day tasks such as cleaning, feeding, grooming, socialising and exercising of the animals. You will need to be aged 16 years or above and have a real love of animals. You will need to be motivated and reasonably physically fit as the work is strenuous.
Leave a gift in your will
Rejected by their owners and with nowhere else to turn, very many animals have found security here at the Sanctuary.
Everyone of us is committed to making the Sanctuary an even better place for animals and I would like to ask you to remember us by leaving a gift in your will.
Your gift would mean you are leaving a lasting benefit to be enjoyed by very many future animals and I urge you to consider sending us a pledge – please download our pledge here
If you have any questions, please contact the Legacy Officer either through this website or by phone and we will be pleased to offer you further guidance.
Organise your own fundraising event
Help organise a fundraising event, for example a quiz or a social evening or undertake a sponsored event. We are part of the Justgiving website – if you have never used it, it’s a great way to get more sponsorship for a sponsored event and really easy to set your own page up – www.justgiving.com.
