VOLUNTEERING
Do you love animals, have time to spare and would like to make a difference in your community? Then why not become a volunteer at the Animal Sanctuary.
Become a volunteer at the Animal Sanctuary
The Humane Education Society is an independent charity and has to raise all its own funds. The Society relies on the dedication and support of its volunteers to provide a service for those animals most in need in the Wilmslow area. The Humane Education Society needs volunteers to help the staff at the animal sanctuary.
If you feel you could help, please contact the Animal Sanctuary for further details. Alternatively, you can download, print and complete a Volunteer Application form and return it to the Animal Sanctuary (Humane Education Society, Newgate, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5LN).
Some of the ways you could help
Administration
Based at the Animal Sanctuary, there are a variety of administrative tasks which can be undertaken and may include working on reception, dealing with visitors to the animal centre and answering the phone.
Fundraising
Here are some of the ways you can help us with fundraising:
- Help out at open days and other events at the animal sanctuary
- Help with street collections
- Help organise a fundraising event, for example a quiz or a social evening
- Undertake a sponsored event
Maintenance/Gardening
With a large Animal Sanctuary to maintain we need volunteers to help, under direction, with jobs large and small on the site.
Home visiting
The role of the home visitor is to visit the homes of potential animal adoptors to ensure their suitability. If you have experience as a pet owner and have your own transport you may be able to help. Let us know which areas you can travel to and the amount of spare time you may have. Training will be given.
Practical animal care
Many volunteers enjoy working alongside the staff completing the day to day tasks such as cleaning, feeding, grooming, socialising and exercising of the animals. You will need to be aged 16 years or above and have a real love of animals. You will need to be motivated and reasonably physically fit as the work is strenuous.
